In 2019, Bihać, Tuzla and Sanski Most were the warmest since 1961

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to a preliminary analysis, the average annual air temperature in Bosnia and Herzegovina was significantly higher compared to the reference period (1961-1990). 

„At the meteorological stations Bihać, Sanski Most and Tuzla, 2019 was the warmest year since the beginning of official measurements. Positive temperature deviations, compared to the mentioned period, were greater than 2 °C at most stations. The largest deviations were in April and November. 

January and May were the only two months in the past year that were colder than average. Total precipitation sums in Bosnia were within limits or slightly lower, and in Herzegovina above average. At most stations, the lowest monthly precipitation sums were measured in October, and the highest in May and November. In November, 427 mm of precipitation was measured at the Livno meteorological station, which is the second highest monthly sum since the beginning of official measurements. 

The number of hours of sunshine was higher at all observed stations compared to the reference series (1961-1990). In Mostar, 105 more sunny hours were recorded during 2019, and in Sarajevo 250 more sunny hours than the average“, announced the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute.
