23,902 Irregular Migrants Entered BiH in 2018

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The BiH Council of Ministers today adopted the Information of the Ministry of Security on the situation in the field of migration in Bosnia and Herzegovina in relation to the increased inflow of migrants in 2018.

From January to December last year, 23,902 irregular migrants were registered with the Service for Foreigners' Affairs on the territory of BiH, while 22,499 individuals expressed their intention to seek asylum, and 1,567 submitted an asylum application.

The largest number of migrants are from Pakistan (7,770), Iran (3,663), Syria (3,017), Afghanistan (2,780), and Iraq (2,184). Other more represented groups of migrants are from Libya (879), Palestine (752), Algeria (477), Bangladesh (452), and India (416).

During last year, a continuous increase in the number of migrants in BiH was recorded until October, after which a decrease in the inflow of migrants to BiH followed.
