Creator of Facebook group 'Be Like Šaban': A teacher who confronts you with all your bad habits

The creator of the popular Facebook group „Be Like Šaban“, Azur Delibašić (15) from Kakanj, wants to help cleanse society in Bosnia and Herzegovina of harmful content. Because, it is obvious, we have fallen into big trouble.

Delibašić told the Patria news agency that he decided to fight against bad habits in society using social networks as a medium, because they are very popular. Delibašić, it seems, uses them the right way, with the help of the fictional Šaban. The group „Be Like Šaban“ has so far gathered more than 60,000 users. And that in just a few weeks. And that number is growing daily.

Delibašić's fictional character Šaban warns about wrong values in society, bad habits of people, especially young people. Šaban is bothered by the fact that today an average singer is paid more than the best doctor, mathematician or writer. Šaban wants to change such a state of affairs.

He also finds it unacceptable that young people are increasingly illiterate. It is also unfortunate that girls pay more attention to the appearance of their nails than to their own morality. The power of men is reflected through their car, not through their education.

- Facebook, and the internet in general, can provide many good things, if this medium is used properly. So, instead of using social networks to write unnecessary content, rather produce something, and then use Facebook to advertise your product, because Facebook allows you free advertising, at least up to a certain level. Also, social networks should be used to establish contacts, but not with fake profiles, but with people from whom you can learn something – says Delibašić. He explains that the group „Be Like Šaban“ was created spontaneously, during the holidays, but soon became a real hit on social networks.

- The fact that Šaban caused a real euphoria on social networks actually only speaks to how much people need many more Šabans who will start pointing out bad life habits and promoting real values.

If he could turn back time, Delibašić says he would try to keep his name secret as long as possible and work more on building the image of Šaban as a positive character who changes people's habits.

I AM BOTHERED BY THE FACEBOOK LIFE OF MY FRIENDS

Delibašić finds it difficult to watch people move their lives to Facebook. And there, he says, they present it to others in a completely distorted form. Photos on Facebook are almost always retouched, feelings on Facebook are fake, the power people show is fragile.

- If you take a person's real life and compare it with the life they show on Facebook, you will see that these are completely different worlds – says Delibašić for Patria.
