Sad Anniversaries: 24 years since the death of "Golden Lily" Ramiz Salčin

A sniper bullet fired from the direction of Nedžarići was fatal on August 22, 1992, for Ramiz Salčin. The commander of the Municipal Staff of the Territorial Defense of Novi Grad Sarajevo was killed in the then settlement of Vojničko Polje, today's Saraj Polje, while defending Sarajevo, writes the Patria News Agency.

As commander of the Staff of the Territorial Defense, he was present at all battlefronts in the Novi Grad area, from the battles of Žuč, Mojmilo, Dobrinja, all the way to Nedžarići.

He was posthumously awarded the highest wartime recognition "Golden Lily" in 1994 and the order of the liberation war "Golden Coat of Arms with Swords". He was buried in the Kovači Martyrs' Cemetery.

Today, a sports hall, a street, and a square in Sarajevo bear his name. Ramiz Salčin was born on May 13, 1954, in Gacko.

Today, family members, comrades-in-arms, friends, and citizens of Novi Grad will visit the place where Ramiz Salčin was killed, and the Kovači cemetery where this hero of the defense of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina is buried.
