Tuzla mourns: Crime against Tuzla's youth

Tuzla mourns today, the massacre at Kapija, also known as the "Crime against Tuzla's youth," is one of the most severe crimes committed against Tuzla's civilians on May 25, 1995, writes the Patria News Agency.

On that day, at 8:55 PM, Serb forces fired a shell from Ozren towards Tuzla's promenade, a gathering place for youth known as Kapija. The shell killed 71 Tuzla citizens and wounded over 150. The average age of the killed Tuzla citizens was around 24 years.

A memorial commemoration of the nineteenth anniversary of this monstrous massacre was held by laying wreaths and flowers in the Alley of Youth at Slana Banja.

Incidentally, at the initiative of the parents of the murdered children, this year's memorial commemoration of the saddest day in Tuzla's city history proceeded according to a shortened program, and it was decided that the money planned for the commemoration would be redirected to the accounts of citizens who lost their homes and belongings in the recent floods and landslides.
