Prosecution: Detention proposed for suspect Bajrektarević for terrorism

(Patria) - Acting within the 24/7 prosecution duty, the duty prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office submitted a proposal to the BiH Court for the detention of the suspect:
-Bajrektarević Simbad, born in 1987 in Velika Kladuša, where he resides, a BiH citizen, with multiple previous convictions.

A report was filed against the suspect by the State Investigation and Protection Agency - SIPA, and the suspect is accused of having posted a public message on social media a few days before the religious holiday of Eid, on April 7, 2024, threatening a wider population of people, calling them “infidels”, “polytheists”, etc., by committing a terrorist attack on people's lives, which was published along with his photograph in camouflage pants and with an automatic weapon, a knife, and a black flag with Arabic letters, thus becoming available to internet and social media users.

After the publication, the suspect was identified, located, and apprehended, and items and means that will be used as evidence in the proceedings were seized from him.

The suspect is under investigation for the criminal offense of terrorism under Article 201 of the Criminal Code of BiH. The detention measure was proposed for the reasons described in Article 132, Paragraph 1, points b) and c), namely the risk that, if at liberty, the suspect could obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, influence witnesses or accomplices, as well as repeat the criminal offense or complete the attempted one.

At the hearing regarding the detention proposal, the prosecuting prosecutor detailed the reasons for detention, after which the BiH Court ordered detention for the suspect.
