KS Prosecutor's Office Acting on Multiple Complaints Against Abel Baltić (SDP) While He Was Director of KS Health Center

(Patria) - The KS Prosecutor's Office is acting on multiple complaints concerning Abel Baltić, the now former director of the KS Health Center, who resigned after the KS Assembly did not approve his work report for 2022. Baltić submitted his resignation, which was accepted by the new Management Board. Baltić was appointed to this position in 2021 at the proposal of SDP BiH.

"The Prosecutor's Office of KS is acting on several complaints. Therefore, the allegations are being verified to determine if there are elements of a criminal offense in the actions of the accused," the KS Prosecutor's Office stated in their response to Patria.

In two cases last year, orders were issued not to conduct investigations against the accused, as the complaints and accompanying files indicated that the alleged offense was not criminal. In one of these two cases, a complaint was filed and is currently being processed, according to the KS Prosecutor's Office.

At the KS Assembly session, numerous representatives questioned Baltić's work and his management of the KS Health Center. Complaints have been filed against Baltić concerning public procurement, suspicious hiring, uniform procurement, and the conclusion of harmful contracts...

The Office for Combating Corruption confirmed that they received two complaints this year regarding irregularities in hiring at the KS Health Center.

"Based on Article 39 of the Law on Prevention and Suppression of Corruption in Sarajevo Canton, the Office has initiated verification procedures to determine the validity of the allegations in the received complaints, which have not yet been concluded," Erduan Kafedžić told Faktor.

During 2023, the Office received 13 complaints of irregularities related to the work of the KS Health Center.

Six complaints were forwarded to the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, one complaint to the Police Administration of the MUP of KS, one to the Ministry of Health of KS, and two complaints to other competent cantonal authorities.

Although Baltić resigned for moral reasons, and even the SDP representatives did not vote for his report, the Presidency of SDP and the Cantonal Board of SDP Sarajevo considered Baltić suitable to take over the management of the Municipal Organization of SDP Novi Grad. This has been opposed by certain members of SDP Novi Grad who believe he is an extended arm of Damir Hadžić, a former SDP official who wants to reassert his influence within the party.
