Cantonal Prosecutor's Office: Political parties and public figures should refrain from suggesting to the judiciary what to do in cases

(Patria) - The acting prosecutor of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office proposed to the Municipal Court in Sarajevo to order a one-month detention for Amir Pašić. Detention was proposed due to the risk of flight and the risk that the suspect might repeat the criminal offense while at large.

Pašić is suspected of using profanity, insults, and derogatory language via the social networks TikTok and YouTube to insult the dignity of three female journalists and the Deputy Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, thereby violating their psychological integrity and committing the criminal offense of psychological violence in a more severe form committed through information-communication technology.

At the same time, the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton calls on all political parties and public figures to refrain from commenting and suggesting to holders of judicial functions what and how they should act in specific cases. Any attempt at public pressure on the work is unacceptable and represents a violation of the principle of judicial independence, the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton stated.

We remind you that numerous political figures, officials, political parties, and organizations have commented on the case of journalist Rabija Arifović, who filed a complaint against Amir Pašić, publicly expressing opinions on what the acting prosecutor should do in the "Faćo" case.

Officials of Our Party, Dragan Mioković, who is also the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Duška Jurišić, Deputy Minister of Human Rights and Refugees, specifically spoke out on this matter.
