Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton formed a case: Did Boris Trapara become director of a public institution based on fake work experience?

(Patria) - The Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton is taking action to make a final prosecutorial decision in the case concerning Boris Trapara, director of the Cantonal Institute for the Protection of Cultural-Historical and Natural Heritage of Sarajevo. Trapara was appointed to this position as a proposal from Our Party.

Namely, the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton received documentation related to a disputed certificate of work experience that Trapara submitted when applying for the position of Director of the Institute. The competition required five years of work experience.

Trapara submitted a certificate from the construction company Marvel from Istočno Sarajevo stating that he spent three years there working in positions within the scope of the Cantonal Institute for the Protection of Cultural-Historical and Natural Heritage of Sarajevo.

Checks carried out by the competent inspection authorities determined that employee Boris Trapara does not exist in the company Marvel's official records.

"Actions are being taken in the said case to reach a final prosecutorial decision," was the response from the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton to Patria's inquiry.

The official biography listed on the website of the Cantonal Institute states that Trapara is an architect and architectural historian. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Sarajevo. He completed his doctoral studies in France, and obtained a second doctorate in 2020 at the International Burch University in Sarajevo.

As further stated, after his studies, he volunteered at the Commission for the Preservation of National Monuments of BiH, collaborated with several non-governmental organizations for heritage protection, and worked as a senior assistant for the subject of history of architecture and art at the Department of Architecture of the International Burch University. He stayed at the Institute of Art History at the University of Vienna as a researcher and scholarship holder of the Austrian Government.
However, there is no mention of work experience from the construction company Marvel, where he allegedly spent three years.
Since August 2021, he has held the position of Director of the Cantonal Institute for the Protection of Cultural-Historical and Natural Heritage of Sarajevo.

Without disputing all the references Trapara has for performing the function of director, the question remains open whether he falsified documentation and thus became the director of a public institution, and whether he can remain in the position of director if it is determined that the certificate is not valid.
