Prosecutor's Office and Court of BiH arrest Debevec while war criminals flee the country

The Party of Democratic Action (SDA) issued a press release stating that the Prosecutor's Office and Court of BiH are busy arresting the President of the Court of BiH while convicted war criminals are fleeing the country.

They state that those convicted of crimes in the Zecovi settlement in Prijedor, which was qualified as a crime against humanity, have fled from BiH to Serbia, and that the BiH judiciary enabled their escape.

"The BiH Prosecutor's Office and the BiH Court are accomplices in helping war criminals evade justice, as they have done nothing they were supposed to do to ensure that the escape of the convicted does not happen, which victim associations have persistently warned about," the SDA said.

(Patria) - All those who were convicted today by the Court of BiH in the first instance to a total of 59 years in prison for war crimes committed in the Prijedor village of Zecovi in July 1992 are currently not in BiH, which also means they are unavailable to the BiH judiciary. Confirmed

The same scenario is being prepared in the case of those accused of killing 800 Bosniaks in Zvornik, who were released after being apprehended with protective measures.

"These measures, taking into account past experiences, will not prevent them from fleeing to Serbia. While they allow war criminals to escape, the Prosecutor's Office and the Court of BiH are busy arresting and detaining the President of the Court of BiH, who obviously had strong reasons not to trust many who sit in this honorable institution," the SDA points out.

They also commented on the recent arrest of the suspended President of the Court of BiH, Ranko Debevec, and the former Director of the Intelligence Security Agency (OSA), Osman Mehmedagić.

"We do not know what the investigation will reveal regarding the arrests of the President of the Court of BiH, Ranko Debevec, and the former Director of OSA, Osman Mehmedagić, but it is clearly evident that a significant number of dishonest and unworthy judges and prosecutors hold positions in the BiH judiciary, who, instead of investigating and judging, deserve to be investigated and judged. The most obvious example is the former president of the HJPC, Milan Tegeltija, and his 'Potkivanje' affair, who deserved to be monitored, checked, and documented, and then convicted by the judiciary whose image he tarnished," the party emphasizes.

They remind that Tegeltija did not face any consequences after the discovery of the 'Potkivanje' affair, but rather those who exposed the affair were punished.

"Individuals like Tegeltija obviously have the protection of such a judiciary, which simultaneously prosecutes and disciplines honorable judges like Branko Perić, and patriots who honorably performed their duties like Osman Mehmedagić. Such a judiciary, which has become a tool for political settling of scores, which protects dishonest judges and prosecutors, which is more concerned with media spectacle than with the actual implementation of law and justice, which helps war criminals to escape - must be thoroughly reformed," the SDA concludes.
