Prosecutor's Office of BiH working on Zoran Galić case but cannot disclose procedural activities

(Patria) - Deputy Director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency Zoran Galić has been unavailable to the prosecuting authorities of BiH since July 8, and according to information announced on July 9 by the Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH Milanko Kajganić, he illegally crossed the border with Croatia and is currently in that country.

SIPA Director Darko Ćulum, in his first reaction to the media after Galić fled arrest, said he told his secretary he was going for treatment.

Galić had previously visited Zagreb for treatment on several occasions while he was also the Director of the Border Police of BiH. The criminal offenses he is suspected of date from the period when he led this police agency. Since February 2023, he has been in the position of Deputy Director of SIPA, even though the Prosecutor's Office of BiH had six open cases against Zoran Galić.

Until EUROPOL became involved after the decryption of Sky and Anom applications, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH did not prosecute Galić.

Although Kajganić disclosed to the public the details of Galić's escape to Croatia, as well as that an investigation is underway into who tipped off the fugitive about the arrest operation, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has changed its approach and does not want to reveal what is being done in this case.

In response to Patria's question whether the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has requested the Court of BiH to issue a warrant, we received the following answer from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH:

"The Prosecutor's Office of BiH is undertaking necessary procedural activities in the case. We cannot provide more information or details at this stage of the proceedings."

To the question of whether the Prosecutor's Office of BiH will officially notify the Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH about the status of Zoran Galić so that the Independent Board can take actions within its competence and initiate the dismissal of the Deputy Director of SIPA, we received no response.

The Independent Board held a session on Monday, July 15, and one of the conclusions regarding the Zoran Galić case is that the Independent Board will request certain information from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, and upon receiving that information, the Independent Board will adopt appropriate conclusions and decisions.

Within the same case "Kings," three persons were deprived of liberty and placed in custody.
