
(Patria) - The Prosecutor's Office of BiH has filed an indictment against several employees of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, who were arrested in the Brend IV operation at the end of 2022, and it is pending confirmation by the Court of BiH.
The indictment has been filed against Jelena Majstorović, former head of the Group for Prevention of Smuggling and Misdemeanors at the Regional Center of the Indirect Taxation Authority, and Radenko Popović, Vladimir Đurđević, Vladimir Puzić, and Stevo Savić.
Majstorović, Popović, and Savić spent some time in custody, after which restrictive measures were imposed on them.
They have been suspended from their positions at the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH since their arrest.
They are accused of the criminal offense of abuse of position and association for the commission of criminal offenses.
Incidentally, Majstorović was employed at the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH by former director Miro Džakula.
As reported by Istraga at the end of 2022, Jelena Majstorović is one of the most powerful individuals in the Indirect Taxation Authority and is closely connected to the management of the Authority. Since 2020, she has been the head of the Group for Prevention of Smuggling in the Banja Luka Regional Center, where she was promoted by the then director of the Indirect Taxation Authority, Miro Džakula.
During her employment at the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, Majstorović acquired a significant number of properties and vehicles.
During the investigation, the Prosecutor's Office heard witnesses who described how Majstorović and her colleagues confiscated jewelry, goods, and received bribes during inspections.
As confirmed to Patria by the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, Majstorović and other employees of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH covered by this investigation have been suspended since December 2022. Disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated, but their conclusion will depend on the outcome of the criminal proceedings.
While under suspension, these employees receive 70 percent of their salary.
