(Patria) - Due to great interest in the case related to events in the Donja Jablanica area, the Federal Prosecutor's Office has issued a statement informing the public that on March 12, 2026, the Chief Cantonal Prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton issued a decision, for procedural reasons, to revoke the previously issued order for investigation by the Regional Prosecutor's Office of Konjic, and to return the case to the previous stage of the procedure.
At the same time, on March 18, 2026, the federal prosecutor of the Special Department for Combating Corruption, Organized and Inter-Cantonal Crime of the Federal Prosecutor's Office of FBiH, acting within their legal jurisdiction, issued a new order for investigation in the same case.
"We emphasize that the issuance of the aforementioned decision represents a procedural action aimed at ensuring the proper and lawful conduct of the procedure, and does not prejudge the criminal liability of any person. The competent prosecutor of the Special Department will intensively continue to undertake the necessary investigative actions, in order to fully and objectively establish all relevant facts and circumstances," stated the Federal Prosecutor's Office.
We remind that 19 people died in the devastating floods in Donja Jablanica in October 2024, and the autopsies showed that they suffocated from earth and stones and material that collapsed from a nearby quarry.
