Turkish warships will not enter Neum after all

The Council of Ministers of BiH did not give consent for the open sea exercise of the Turkish Armed Forces Navy Academy, which was requested by the Ministry of Security of BiH and was supposed to be held from July 14 to 19 this year in Neum. The Ministry of Security will inform the Presidency of BiH about this, reports the Patria News Agency.

We remind that the local community gave a negative opinion on the entry of ships into the Neum Bay, considering that the presence of warships would negatively affect the tourist season and the eco-system.

Otherwise, the residents of Neum had also announced protests to protect the cleanliness of Neum Bay, and the development of tourism and tourist activities, on which most citizens live. The Municipality of Neum also supported the protests, all with the aim of banning warships from entering Neum.

- Wanting to draw attention to the problems and consequences that Neum and its citizens suffer from the constant entry of warships into the Neum waters, and this in the heart of the tourist season, numerous initiatives have been launched - say the Municipality of Neum.

The first protest, which planned to block the Adriatic Highway, was announced for July 13, while the following day, July 14, a protest by boats and small vessels at sea was announced. Whether the protests will be cancelled is not yet known.
