Turkish researchers visit countries that were part of the Ottoman Empire

A group of young researchers from Turkey, aged 19 to 25, set off from Istanbul on August 22nd to visit countries that were historically part of the Ottoman Empire. So far, they have visited Sofia, Bucharest, Budapest, Zagreb, Sarajevo, Mostar, and yesterday they arrived in Belgrade, writes the BH News Agency Patria.

A group of 118 students is touring the Balkan countries, traveling by train at night and spending the day sightseeing. In Belgrade, they visited the famous Bajrakli Mosque.

The project is being realized with the help of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Turkey, and its goal is to introduce younger generations to the history of relations between Turkey and the Balkan countries. Vedat Gul, from the Turkish Embassy in Belgrade, said that this activity has become a tradition and has positive effects.

- It is a good way to improve relations between countries, and in this way, young people better understand the cultural values and heritage in the Balkans - said Gul.

The trip is free for undergraduate and postgraduate students, and a second group of female students from Istanbul will depart on September 5th.
