Turković Receives Letter from Japanese Foreign Minister

(Patria) - Deputy Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković received a visit from Japanese Ambassador Ito Makoto today on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Japan recognized Bosnia and Herzegovina on January 23, 1996, and diplomatic relations were established on this day in 1996.

During the meeting, Ambassador Makoto presented Minister Turković with a letter from Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu, which stated that friendly ties between the two countries are developing in various fields, including politics, economy, culture, and sports.

- From the establishment of diplomatic relations 25 years ago to the present day, Japan has actively provided assistance in preserving peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Within the framework of the "Western Balkans Cooperation Initiative," Japan wishes to continue working on supporting inter-ethnic cooperation and socio-economic reforms in BiH. Also, based on the friendship that the two countries have built over the past 25 years, and on the occasion of this 25th anniversary, I wish to actively cooperate with you in further strengthening friendly relations with BiH, and in the joint fight against the global coronavirus pandemic. I sincerely hope that the exchange of visits between the two countries, including high-ranking officials, will be active again after the end of this coronavirus pandemic - stated Minister Toshimitsu in his letter.

At today's meeting, Minister Turković also presented Ambassador with a letter for Minister Toshimitsu, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, it was announced from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH.
