Turković: EU will invest 10 million euros in the Armed Forces of BiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The European Union will help strengthen the capacities of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Bisera Turković. 

Turković, in her post on social networks, emphasized that "this is an extremely important decision that will strengthen the capacities and capabilities of our Armed Forces, and it will be realized through the new EU instrument 'The European Peace Facility'.

- The goal of the instrument is to increase the EU's ability to prevent conflicts, preserve peace, and strengthen international stability and security, and the total budget of this instrument is five billion euros for 2021-2027. BiH is the first beneficiary country of these funds, and we expect 10 million euros to be donated to strengthen the demining capacities of the AFBiH.

In the coming days, I will participate in several important European forums in Brussels where I will speak, among other things, about the situation in BiH. I expect that the EU foreign ministers will also adopt positions on the latest developments in our country and in the entire Western Balkans. It is of essential importance that we turn this crisis into an opportunity to fulfill the remaining conditions for candidate status in the shortest possible time. I believe that would be the best response to retrograde policies - concluded Turković.
