Tunnel '1. mart' to be completed two months ahead of schedule!

On the eve of the completion of the second and most important phase of works on the '1. mart' tunnel on Corridor 5C, sabotage occurred and the electricity supply was cut off, confirmed today at the ceremony for the completion of the second phase of works by the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH Nermin Nikšić, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP). Despite this, today's ceremony passed without problems.

Nikšić stated that an incident with cable interruption was recorded, but that the problems were resolved by the intervention of the BiH consortium contractor and the Public Enterprise Autoceste FBiH. According to NAP, it appears to be intentional sabotage.

 

Today, the Prime Minister of FBiH officially marked the end of the second phase of works on the Vijenac tunnel, i.e., '1. mart', on the section of the highway on Corridor 5C from Sarajevo to Zenica.

As stated at the ceremony, attended by the Director of the Public Enterprise Autoceste FBiH Ensad Karić and the representative of the contractor Hamed Ramić, in addition to Nikšić, this marks the completion of the most important phase of works on one of the largest structures on Corridor 5C.

This is the longest and most modern tunnel in BiH. The final opening to traffic is expected by July this year, even two months ahead of the planned deadline! The interior of this facility will be illuminated with special LED lighting and will be fully covered by video surveillance.
