Tuka nearly cried after learning they were preparing a welcome for him: My dear people of Kakanj, thank you!

The world's fastest 800-meter athlete Amel Tuka took a photo with a banner that read „My dear people of Kakanj, thank you“, after learning that a spectacular welcome was being prepared for him in his hometown of Kakanj, reports the news agency Patria.
Friends close to the athlete said that Tuka was touched by this information and that he is very happy about the support he is receiving from Kakanj.

Tuka also thanked local authorities for the help they have provided him since the beginning of his career.

Thousands of people will welcome the currently fastest man in the world, Amel Tuka, who is expected to arrive in Bosnia and Herzegovina, specifically in Kakanj to his parents, most likely on August 9, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Municipal mayor Nermin Mandra, along with the entire municipal administration, is working urgently on preparations for the champion's welcome.
In addition to the people of Kakanj, Bosnians and Herzegovinians from other parts of the country will also welcome the champion on the main city street.

- I thank all citizens of Kakanj for the great support they provide me, and I tell them that they are largely responsible for my results - wrote Tuka in a message he sent to the official Facebook group of the Kakanj municipality.

From the municipality, they told Patria that Tuka especially thanked the mayor of Kakanj municipality, Nermin Mandra, who has supported him from the very beginning of his career.

And Tuka did not forget his school friends either.

- I send a special greeting to my golden generation of mechanical technicians and the best Secondary Technical School “Kemal Kapetanović” Kakanj, as well as all the teachers at this school” – wrote Tuka in the message.

Tuka is currently the world's fastest athlete over 800 meters. In just four days, he won two gold medals at competitions in Monaco and Switzerland. At the prestigious Diamond League, which he ran on the 17th of this month, with a time of 1:42.51 over 800 meters, he captivated all athletics fans, achieved the 10th best result of all time in world athletics, broke his personal record, as well as the record of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He is currently preparing in Italy. The exact date of the spectacular welcome for Tuka in Kakanj will be announced later, and it will be on August 9 or 10.

From August 22 to 30, Tuka faces the World Athletics Championships in Beijing, reports NAP.
