Tuka supports Bosnian basketball players: If we are the best ambassadors of our country, why don't we have the best conditions

(Patria) - After today's alarming and sincere statements by BiH basketball players who do not have adequate conditions for preparations, BiH athlete Amel Tuka supported them.

"Sincere support to the Basketball Team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Musa, Nurkić, Halilović, Garza, coach Bećiragić and the rest of the team fighting for a spot at the Olympic Games (Zahiragić, Arslanagić, Atić, Gegić, Delalić, Lazić, Vrabac, Alibegović, Delalić, Kamenjaš, Ilić, Ahmedović, Zrno). Indeed, the successes of our athletes at world and European competitions are akin to a feat, given the multitude of problems we all face. Problems that are more than trivial, even laughable, for other athletes we compete against around the world.

We must all fight together for systemic solutions that will at least equalize sports, athletes, and all our national teams with everyone else who represents our country in the world. Everywhere we hear that athletes are the best ambassadors of a country. So if that is the case, why are the necessary laws and measures not adopted at all levels of government?

As the President of the Olympians Commission of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I demand that this issue be resolved as soon as possible. We have little time left until the Paris 2024 Olympics. Let everyone take their share of responsibility and do their part. We at the Olympic Committee proposed solutions long ago.

What's done is done. I want to believe that things can be improved and that sports and athletes will finally get the place they deserve in our society. We will soon start implementing the conclusions we reached at the Olympians Commission.
I am convinced that together we can change the current situation for the benefit of sports, all our athletes, and Bosnia and Herzegovina," Tuka said.
