Tufekčić announced the continuation of the House of Peoples session without HDZ delegates

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – The fate of the Bill on electoral units and the number of mandates of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is still uncertain. Delegates of the HDZ as well as the Chairperson of the House, Lidija Bradara, are not attending the session.

The Deputy Chairperson of the House, Jasenko Tufekčić, announced that he will continue with the session if Bradara and the HDZ delegates do not appear in the Parliament hall soon, because, as he stated, the Rules of Procedure oblige him to do so.

Earlier, the inclusion of the Law on Electoral Units in the FBiH in the agenda was rejected, after the Deputy Chairperson of the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, Drago Puzigaća, assessed that the Bill on Electoral Units is destructive to the vital national interest of the Croatian people. Today, delegates tried to discuss this Law again, but delegates from the HDZ are obstructing the session.

The proposers of the Law on Electoral Units in the FBiH are parliamentary clubs in the House of Representatives of SDA, SBB, DF, SDP, and delegate in the House of Peoples Predrag Kojović. They claim that the law, if finally adopted, will remove blockades in the constitution of the federal House of Peoples. According to that Law, in the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, each of the three constituent peoples in the FBiH should have at least one delegate in the House of Peoples from each of the ten cantons. The HDZ, on the other hand, believes that in this house, peoples should not have representatives from all cantons, but only from those in which they are the majority, or in which there is at least a significant number of that people. Other parties assess such an HDZ proposal as discriminatory.
