Battery-powered trolleybuses for public transport to Vogošća

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The municipal mayor Edin Smajić with associates, received today (16.02.2021) in the Municipality of Vogošća the Minister of Transport of Sarajevo Canton Adnan Šteta and the director of the Roads Directorate of Sarajevo Canton Selmir Kovač with an associate.

The meeting was a working one and the Municipal Mayor informed the Minister about the traffic infrastructure projects currently being implemented in the municipality of Vogošća. He expressed satisfaction with the successful long-standing cooperation with the Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton, which has been ongoing continuously for several years. He noted, however, that there is still room for improvement in that cooperation. He drew the Minister's attention to several projects in the field of transport that are urgently needed by the citizens of Vogošća, for which project documentation already exists. He also informed Minister Šteta about the urgent need to repair several local roads. He emphasized that these are projects that require funds for their implementation that exceed the possibilities of the municipal budget and that their realization requires support from higher levels of government, primarily the Sarajevo Canton. It was confirmed that the work plan of the Roads Directorate of Sarajevo Canton for this year already includes the reconstruction of the roads Skendera Kulenovića, 24. juna and Tome Mendeša, as well as the completion of the reconstruction project of Muje Šejte street carried over from the previous year. Acknowledging the fact that the budget funds for this year are smaller than in previous years, Mayor Smajić delegated several more local roads that are in urgent need of reconstruction. In this regard, among others, he mentioned the streets Spasoja Blagovčanina, Branilaca vijenca, Samira Gradišića, Porodice Planja, Izeta Delića, as well as the need to continue with the Svrake IV street project.

The topic of conversation was, of course, also the First Transversal, where it was jointly concluded that during 2021 it is necessary to ensure the preparation of the transversal project for the entire area from the tunnel at Kobilja Glava to the Vogošća junction.

There was also talk about public city transport, and here the need to introduce a line on the route Vogošća – Dobrinja was again emphasized. A significant part of this working meeting was dedicated to the planned return of trolleybus traffic to Vogošća. Certain concerns about problems that may arise with the contact network, especially in the winter months, which the citizens of Vogošća remember from the time when the trolleybus operated to this settlement, were dispelled by Minister Šteta, noting that new trolleybuses should operate towards Vogošća, which have a battery that allows such a trolleybus to travel up to ten kilometers without a contact network. He added that the planned route of the trolleybus would allow citizens of Vogošća to reach many parts of the city without changing vehicles.

Both the mayor and the minister assessed the cooperation so far as very successful, with the mayor noting that in the field of transport, more has been done in Vogošća in the last two years than in its history.
