Trocsanyi did not receive support for the position of EU Enlargement Commissioner

BRUSSELS, (Patria) - Members of the European Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee rejected the candidates from Romania and Hungary for European Commissioners due to potential conflicts of interest, reported the Politico portal, as reported by N1 Television.

The Committee voted against Rovana Plumb, the candidate for European Commissioner for Transport, as well as Hungary's candidate Laszlo Trocsanyi, as Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations.

European Commission spokesperson Mina Andreeva said, following these decisions, that this means the procedure has been suspended.

Plumb and Trocsanyi were scheduled to appear before the European Parliament's relevant committees next week, Politico reports.

The next steps, she added, depend on how Parliament chooses to proceed with the procedure in agreement with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
