Thirteen Sarajevo Teachers Trained to Work in Kindergartens

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Thirteen primary school teachers in Sarajevo Canton have successfully completed the "Informal Program for Training Teachers for Work in Preschool Institutions" and can now work as educators. Today, they were awarded certificates for their acquired competencies. The training program for primary school teachers to work in preschool institutions was initiated by the Government of Sarajevo Canton and the Public Institution Employment Service, in cooperation with the Faculty of Education of UNSA, with the aim of solving the problem of staff shortages in Sarajevo kindergartens.

"When the Government of Sarajevo Canton decided to eliminate waiting lists in kindergartens, we faced a shortage of educators. Given that the Faculty of Education is certified for adult education, we decided on this program by including primary school teachers from the Sarajevo Canton Employment Service registry," explained the Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, Zineta Bogunić.

According to the program coordinator and associate professor at the Faculty of Education, Mirela Omerović, the participants underwent an intensive three-month program.

"They have become certified professionals with competencies for working in preschool institutions and, by law, have been given the opportunity to take on the roles of educators," emphasized Omerović.
