Thirteen years since the first collective funeral in Potočari: 6,377 genocide victims buried so far

On Thursday, March 31, marks 13 years since the first collective funeral at the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center. In 2003, the first 600 victims of the Srebrenica genocide were buried, writes the Patria news agency.

The thirteenth anniversary will be marked by laying flowers, reciting the Fatiha and Tevhid. The commemoration program begins at 12:30 PM with the laying of flowers at the foundation stone in the cemetery. So far, 6,377 genocide victims have been buried in the cemetery of the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center.

For the record, the Memorial Center was opened in September 2003 by former U.S. President Bill Clinton.

In addition to the first funeral on March 31, 282 victims were buried on July 11 of the same year, while on September 20, when Clinton opened the Memorial Center, another 107 victims were buried.
