Three camps against the leader: Dodik fights for his own political strength and survival

Milorad Dodik's moves could clear the water somewhat, as it is difficult to expect him to remain on 'no comment' after such political slaps, reports the Patria News Agency blog of Slobodan Vasković, a journalist from Banja Luka.

If Dodik does not react and take proactive steps, he will show fear, which he least needs at this moment when his political actions are at zero. Dodik is capricious, fighting for his own political head and survival, and is seriously threatened on numerous fronts. Therefore, it is ungrateful to predict what move he will make to solve SNSD's very complicated rebus.

Until then, several figures on the board are clearly positioned.

Within SNSD, "three camps" have so far crystallized, opposing Milorad Dodik and his autocratic way of leading the party.

CAMP 1

Rajko Vasić most precisely expressed the reasons why Dodik should leave the position of party leader.
 

"I am presenting the proposal and request independently, without lobbying, factionalism, or recruiting anyone for these views," Vasić stated in his call for Dodik to step down as head of SNSD.

His claim that he is alone in the attack on the party president is difficult to sustain, although its goal is for Vasić to take all responsibility for the attack upon himself. Vasić is on excellent terms with Slavko Mitrović, with whom he shares political ideas and views. Mitrović is the dark eminence and ideologue of SNSD.

CAMP 2

Igor Radojičić supported Rajko Vasić and his request. The two of them are on two wings of the Alliance, and if they did not act in unison in the attack on Dodik, Radojičić seized the opportunity to confirm Vasić's call for decapitation and further complicate things for the SNSD leader.

Radojičić controls a large part of the SNSD City Board Banja Luka, where the party's greatest strength lies. Members loyal to him are refusing positions offered by the party leadership, so the conflict with Dodik is fierce on that line as well.

Radojičić was the President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska until the elections, and after the elections, he is only a member of parliament.

Together with Nebojša Radmanović, he controlled eight deputies in the new convocation, but they parted ways over the issue of Željko Kovačević, so it is open how many members of the RS parliament each of them controls.

CAMP 3

Nebojša Radmanović leads the third faction dissatisfied with Dodik's work. Slobodan Gavranović, the mayor of Banja Luka, belongs to that faction. Dodik wants to dismiss him in order to gain control of the City and the SNSD City Board Banja Luka. Gavranović refuses to resign.

Radmanović's player is also Željko Kovačević. Radmanović wanted to push him for the position of director of Elektroprivreda RS, but Dodik prevented it. A criminal proceeding is underway against Kovačević for deals made while he was the director of Elektrokrajina. He and Radmanović believe that Dodik initiated this proceeding, who does not want to give Kovačević any position.

Radmanović was a member of the Presidency of BiH until the elections, and after the elections, he became a delegate in the House of Peoples of BiH.

Radmanović was never on good terms with Vasić, nor with Mitrović. However, there are several things that connect these Three Barons.

- Dodik has marginalized Radmanović, Radojičić, and Vasić, as well as their people in the party,
- Dodik has twice pushed Željka Cvijanović for prime minister, even though none of the three support her,
- For months, Dodik has been avoiding discussing and making decisions on personnel issues at the party's Executive Board, leaving himself room to decide everything himself,
- None of the Three Marginalized Barons are founders of the Party of Independent Social Democrats, which is part of the Alliance. Radmanović and Radojičić came with DSP, while Vasić joined Dodik in 1998.
- None of the Three Marginalized Barons belong to the so-called Lijevče current of SNSD, which Dodik trusts the most.

Political excitement in SNSD is yet to come, although most of the party officials have buried their heads in the sand, waiting for the outcome.
