
(Patria) - The Cantonal Court in Tuzla, after accepting a guilty plea, rendered a first-instance verdict and imposed a three-year prison sentence on Adnan Subašić from Gradačac for the criminal offense of arson.
Subašić was found guilty because on November 19, 2023, at around 12:30 PM, using gasoline and a lighter, he started a fire in the Husejnija Mosque in Gradačac, which is a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As a result, a large part of the interior of the building was destroyed, causing material damage in the amount of 800,000 BAM.
The defendant was also ordered a security measure of mandatory psychiatric treatment, to be served while serving the prison sentence.
His detention was also extended, which may last a maximum of nine months, from the pronouncement of the first-instance verdict until he is sent to serve the prison sentence.
This verdict is not final, as the parties have the right to appeal, the Cantonal Court in Tuzla announced.
