Trgovska Gora remains the location for the construction of a nuclear waste repository

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Zoran Tegeltija, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said today after a meeting with the Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, that BiH and Croatia have good economic and political relations and that they are developing year after year.

“It is of great importance for us to establish a green corridor at the border crossing, and the only country we can work with is Croatia. This would be the first land green corridor with one of the EU countries,” he said.

They also discussed the migrant crisis, COVID topics, and economic issues.  

“Croatia will never agree to the installation of wires between the borders. There are many open issues, some related to succession, to the property of BiH citizens in Croatia, the arbitration process remains open between Elektroprivreda and Gacko, but these are all topics that at this moment do not seriously threaten the relations between the two countries,” said Tegeltija.

The most current issue that could be a problem is the construction of a repository on Trgovska Gora.

“We will try to reduce the fear of citizens regarding the possible construction of the repository. We will try to find another location, and I think it is better to resolve this by seeking a new location than to create mistrust,” said Tegeltija.

Plenković, when asked about the construction of a nuclear waste repository on Trgovska Gora, said that Croatia and BiH are in continuous dialogue.

„There is no danger of any kind, no concern of citizens for that location, given the reliable information we have. In that area on Trgovska Gora, it is a military facility, there is no threat to health, first for Croatia, and even less for citizens on the other side of the border. We need to clarify any elements of concern and find a solution that will leave us calm and secure about it,” said Plenković.
