Third protest by citizens due to tragic tram accident in Sarajevo: 'Safety has become a luxury'

(Patria) - Citizens gathered again in front of the National Museum in Sarajevo to protest the tragic tram accident in which Erdoan Morankić (23) from Brčko died, while four people were injured.

This is the third gathering since Thursday, February 12, when a tram derailed in the Marijin Dvor neighborhood of Sarajevo, near the site of today's gathering, then crossed part of the tram station and ended up on the main road.

Young Erdoan Morankić died then, while four people were injured, the worst among them being 17-year-old Ella Jovanović, who had her leg amputated and remains in serious condition.

The first gathering was called by the Academy of Fine Arts, which the deceased Morankić attended. This is the third protest, but this time not organized by the informal citizens' group "Reci dosta" (Say enough).

"Reci dosta" issued a statement informing the public that they are not behind today's protests.

Unlike the previous two, which saw thousands of people, a noticeably smaller number of citizens attended today's gathering. The rain that has been falling since the early morning hours is likely one of the reasons for this.

Several young people are carrying banners, some of which read "Do you care about us", "Safety has become a luxury", "The system is lying to you", "Our canopy has also fallen".
