Third attempt for payment of severance to Šarić and Trivić, Gabela distances herself from further procedure

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – The Administrative Commission of the City of Sarajevo at its session on February 5 did not approve the payment of severance to the deputy mayors of Sarajevo, Ivica Šarić and Milan Trivić, in the amount of nearly 20,000 KM each, and another attempt will be made on Monday at a new session.

This will be the third attempt, and as confirmed to Patria, constant pressure is being exerted on members of the Administrative Commission to approve this payment. The last session was scheduled by Igor Gavrić, using his procedural right, even though he is not the chair of the Commission but the chair of the City Council and a member of the Commission.

Neither at the last session nor at the one scheduled for Monday will the chair of the Administrative Commission, Edina Gabela (SDA), appear.

We contacted Chairwoman Gabela, who confirmed that neither she nor her deputy scheduled the session and that she distances herself from further procedure.

Incidentally, both Trivić and Šarić are retired (both born in 1952), and during their tenure as deputy mayors, they also received salaries. Although they have a legal right to severance, the question arises whether it is truly justified to give such a large amount of money from the impoverished budget of the City of Sarajevo, especially since they have been receiving high salaries as pensioners for years. In 2020 alone, the inflow into the City Budget was reduced by about 3 million KM.

Trivić and Šarić were elected deputy mayors in February 2017. Šarić is from SDA, and Trivić is a proposal of SBB, as stated on the official website of the City of Sarajevo.

The members of the Administrative Commission are Edina Gabela (SDA), who is also the chair, Adnan Gušo (SDA), Bajro Biber (BOSS), Igor Gavrić (SBB), Vedran Grebo (Our Party), and Snežana Omukić (independent councilor).
