Third child of British ambassador born in Sarajevo: It brought me even closer to BiH

British Ambassador to BiH Edward Ferguson visited the Stari Grad Municipality today on the occasion of the birth of his third child, which his wife gave birth to on September 30, the Stari Grad Municipality announced, as reported by the Bosnian news agency Patria. 

The baby girl was born at the General Hospital in Sarajevo, and her parents registered her in the Birth Registry of the Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality, given their current place of residence.

Ambassador Ferguson says he is very happy that his daughter was born as a Sarajevan and explains that his wife insisted on giving birth in Sarajevo.

- We had a great experience with the doctors and staff at the General Hospital in Sarajevo, and everything went well. Personally, this experience is very important to me because it brought me even closer to Bosnia and Herzegovina and its people - said Ambassador Ferguson.

Incidentally, this is the first time a diplomat from the British Embassy in BiH has decided to have a child born in BiH.
Since the ambassador and his wife are currently residing in the Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality, the newborn child was registered according to the mother's place of residence.

Namely, with the entry into force of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Registers of the Federation of BiH, exactly one year ago, the registration of newborns is done in the registry offices at the mother's place of residence, rather than at the place of birth as was previously the case. 
Ambassador Ferguson was received by the Mayor of Stari Grad Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, and the Assistant Mayor for General Administration, Hidajeta Kadrić, who presented him with the birth certificate for the newborn girl.

Ambassador Ferguson has two other children, a son and a daughter.
