Third time lucky: Will Zubac be suspended on July 22?

The session of the Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH has been scheduled for July 22, at which Goran Zubac, Director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), could and must finally be suspended due to the fact that an indictment against him, charging him with dereliction of duty, has been confirmed, writes the Patria News Agency.

Also on the agenda are clarifications of submitted information by authorized representatives, which the Independent Board requested from all security institutions. The chairman of this body, Žiko Krunić, has repeatedly stated that no one is guilty until proven otherwise, but the Law on Police Officers has never been consistently applied, nor has the Independent Board addressed the Law on Protection of Classified Information, which would automatically remove Zubac from duty pending the outcome of the proceedings.

Otherwise, a hearing for a plea of guilt, at which Zubac is supposed to respond, has not yet been scheduled.

The Ministry of Security of BiH has also initiated procedures related to the revocation of certificates for access to classified information. Otherwise, the Independent Board received information from the BiH Prosecutor's Office back in February that an investigation had been ordered, but the members of this body have never managed to send Zubac on leave.

Otherwise, some parties in the BiH Parliament even proposed to dismiss the Independent Board, but it was later agreed that there was no time for that process, as annual leave is coming soon, and elections immediately after. This is the third session of the Independent Board at which Goran Zubac's case will be considered.
