(Patria) - After 20 days of intensive and demanding service, the Trebević Cable Car is resuming operation.

"Starting Monday, April 20, we are ready to take you above the city again, safer, more reliable, and more prepared than ever," stated JP Sarajevo.

Working hours are from 9 AM to 7 PM, and on Mondays from 12:00 PM to 7 PM.

The Trebević Cable Car was officially opened on May 3, 1959, and it connected Bistrik (583 m above sea level) with Vidikovac on Trebević (1160 m above sea level).

During the Siege of Sarajevo, the cable car, along with its departure and arrival stations on Trebević, was completely destroyed.

The new Trebević Cable Car was opened on April 6, 2018, on the Day of the City of Sarajevo, and the cable car was put into operation by Edmund Offermann, the main donor, and the then-Mayor of Sarajevo, Abdulah Skaka.

Approximately 20 million marks were invested in its construction, of which seven million marks were a donation from Mr. Offermann.

The Trebević Cable Car is still one of the most popular tourist attractions today, as it takes only eight minutes to get from the city to a pleasant mountain environment.

The bobsleigh track on this Olympic mountain, built for the needs of the 14th Winter Olympic Games held in Sarajevo, has never been renovated.

The bobsleigh and luge track on Trebević was completed two years before the start of the Games, and when the Winter Olympic Games opened, the bobsleigh track was one of the biggest attractions, with more than 30,000 spectators watching the bobsleigh competition. Also, this track is special because it was built to serve both luge and bobsleigh, which after Trebević became a construction standard worldwide.

Although it has not yet been renovated and returned to its original purpose, many use it as a cycling path, especially those with an adventurous spirit, as high speeds can be reached.
