Call for convening of the House of Peoples session within three days

(Patria) - Representatives of Serb parties led by Milorad Dodik's SNSD have been blocking the work of Bosnia and Herzegovina's state institutions for months. This fact is today, in addition to the domestic public, also known to the world public.

The greatest service to Dodik and his satellites at this moment would be to accept this fact and, due to their stance, not convene sessions of state institutions and participate in the game imposed from Republika Srpska.

Therefore, it is necessary to organize sessions wherever possible, as is the case with the state House of Peoples.

For this reason, as well as due to its content, the initiative of SDP BiH delegate Denis Bećirović is extremely important, in which he requests "Information from the Collegium of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH on the reasons for blocking the work of the highest legislative body of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with special emphasis on the legal basis for blocking the work of this state authority.".

The initiative was sent to the Speaker of the House, Dragan Čović, tasking the House Collegium to convene an urgent session no later than three days from the submission of this document into the parliamentary procedure, at which the aforementioned Information would be considered as the first item on the agenda.

In the explanation of the Initiative, Bećirović stated that the blockade of the work of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH is a dangerous adventure with unforeseeable consequences for all citizens and peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"It is high time to stop this type of anti-Dayton and anti-constitutional action, because it is, among other things, promoting anti-parliamentarism as one of the fundamental characteristics of totalitarian regimes. Violating the principles of constitutionality and legality is not a European value.

I remind you that all delegates in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH took an oath/solemn declaration at the beginning of their mandate, which reads: 'I pledge to conscientiously respect the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina; to fully implement the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina; to protect and advocate for human rights and fundamental freedoms; and to protect the interests and equality of all peoples and citizens.'

By continuing the blockade of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH and not convening a session, it would definitively be confirmed that you have violated, among other things, the solemn declaration and that you have no intention of performing the entrusted functions and clearly prescribed duties," Bećirović stated in his Initiative.
