Trako: Horseback riding is an increasingly popular sport among Bosnians and Herzegovinians

People who reject horses reject a part of their naturalness, and that is not good for their body and spirit at all – Memnun Trako from the Equestrian Club “Visoko“ from Visoko told the BH News Agency Patria.
Horseback riding, said this experienced coach, is not only relaxing and calming, it demonstrably improves body mobility, improves blood circulation, and enhances muscle elasticity.

Although horses have been a part of Bosnian tradition for centuries, today they can only be seen in equestrian clubs, which, despite being on a constant rise in BiH in recent years, are still not numerous enough. Younger generations in BiH have not even had the opportunity to see a horse in a meadow, writes the Patria agency.

Trako explained that he and his colleagues from Sarajevo, Mostar, Banja Luka, Grude, Kreševo, and several other cities in BiH are now trying to restore this noble animal to the prestige it once had in BiH, and they are particularly striving to interest young people in equestrian sports.

- There are several reasons why this noble animal must once again become a part of our lives – Trako explains.

- In athletes who ride horses, natural human traits are sharpened, such as better coordination of movement in nature, better concentration; a sense of beauty is awakened in people, and self-confidence is restored.

We have a lot of children with special needs who come to ride with us. Some of them show progress in psycho-physical development very quickly. Many children start communicating with their surroundings after only a few riding lessons – claims Trako.

To illustrate how much horses mean to people, and how important they are in people's daily lives, this Visoko resident cites the example of England or Arab countries, which respect horses so much that they give them names typically given to people.

- In great civilizations like Arab civilization, it is quite normal to give a horse a name, for example, Zaid – he says.
