Torture of Batković camp victims passed through 4,000 people

Organized by the Association of Camp Victims in Bosnia and Herzegovina, an commemoration of the anniversary of the suffering of prisoners of the Batković camp near Bijeljina will be held on Tuesday. The Batković camp was formed in April 1992 on the grounds of a agricultural property in the settlement of the same name, 12 kilometers from Bijeljina, and from its establishment until its closure at the end of 1995, it represented a torture site for the non-Serb population from that, as well as other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is estimated that around 4,000 people passed through the tortures of the Batković camp, of whom about 80 were killed or disappeared.

- It is our obligation to pass on the truth about the events that took place in the Batković camp to younger generations, and to preserve the painful memories of the evil inflicted on the innocent by arrogant human hands. We must never ignore the horrific tortures of those beaten to death, and we should and must consider the surviving camp prisoners as eternal heroes – say the Association of Camp Victims of BiH.
