Tomović: Corruption was produced by ethnonationalists, concessions to them are legalisation of separatism

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Prominent businessman and political analyst from BiH Milisav Tomović describes the situation in BiH as political, economic and social chaos. The culprits for this, in his opinion, are domestic and regional political elites, but also certain representatives of the international community.

- Corruption and shortcomings of the electoral system, which are detected by the international community as the main problem in BiH, are only consequences of the destructive actions of ethnonationalist policies that have been alternating in power in BiH from the war until today. Ethnonationalist policies have in that period built and perfected a social system based on corruption, discrimination and nepotism. Making concessions to the leaders of such policies by the international community for the sake of peace and calming tensions has been applied to Bosnia and Herzegovina for three decades, and results in the constant erosion of the state, destruction of the social structure, negative demographic trends and economic collapse, says Tomović for Patria.

In his opinion, every new concession to such policies, especially those with separatist aspirations, is a path to permanent agony for BiH and instability in the Balkans. He considers any agreements outside liberal democracy as a path to legalising separatist actions that have a destructive goal, distancing BiH from modern democratic states of the world.
