Tomas Nagy from Hungary wins Sarajevo Half Marathon

Tomas Nagy from Hungary was the first to cross the finish line of the 11th Sarajevo Half Marathon, which started at 10 AM in front of the BBI Center. Around 3,000 runners from 30 countries participated in the half marathon, with the largest number of participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nagy crossed the finish line with a time of 1:12:04.

Vinko Sliško was second, and Slaviša Bunić was third. The fastest woman was BiH athlete Lucia Kimani.

The Mayor of Sarajevo, Abdulah Skaka, officially started the 11th Sarajevo Half Marathon this morning by participating in the race in front of the BBI Center.

- We are pleased that the number of participants is growing every year, and besides athletes, more and more of our citizens-recreational runners are participating in this event. This event promotes a healthy lifestyle as well as the City of Sarajevo as an important sports, economic, and tourist center - said Mayor Skaka, emphasizing that the City of Sarajevo participates financially in the organization of this mass sports event as a partner of the Association "Marathon" and will continue to do so in the future.

This year's half marathon gathered around 3,000 participants from 30 countries, who competed in the G-Drive relay half marathon (21.2 km for a team of three), the children's race - Zmajzi Kids run (800 m), the recreational race Fun Run (4 km), and the race for persons with special needs.

The collected funds will be donated to associations dealing with children without parental care, supporting people with dementia, and ecological projects.
