New earthquakes overnight in Petrinja and surrounding areas

The past night was not calm in the wider area of Petrinja. At least four earthquakes were recorded overnight.

The strongest was at 4:36 AM with a magnitude of 3.8 on the Richter scale, followed by one at 5:30 AM with 3.1 on the Richter scale, and another at 6:25 AM also with 3.1 on the Richter scale. These figures still need to be validated by the Croatian Seismological Service.

Unlike yesterday morning, these are somewhat weaker earthquakes. As a reminder, yesterday morning Croatia was shaken by an earthquake of 4.8 on the Richter scale.

A similar situation is expected in the coming days and weeks, seismologists warn.

Yesterday afternoon, it was announced that 66 earthquakes had been felt in central Croatia in the last 58 hours.

Some residents from the earthquake-affected area spent the second night outdoors.

"We occasionally turned on the cars, my son, grandson, and a neighbor who lives alone are with me. We stayed and are waiting for containers. The house is destroyed. We hope for help from good people.

Seven people died and dozens were injured in the earthquake that hit Petrinja and Glina. Help is arriving from all sides. A large part of the city is destroyed, and the population that could, left Petrinja.
