Tinjić and Herdželaš advance on WTA list

The best-ranked BiH tennis player Jasmina Tinjić has moved up three places on the new WTA rankings and is now in 249th position, which she will likely improve further after competing in the tennis tournament in Colombia, where she is in the main draw. Tinjić will play against Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, who is currently 129th on the WTA list, tonight in Medellín, Colombia, as part of the 1st round.

- Begu is a big test for me, considering she is in great form. She arrived in Colombia full of confidence after winning two tournaments in a row, and just two years ago she was 38th on the list. However, I will try to give my best and I believe I can advance to the 2nd round, although I am aware it will be difficult - Tinjić said.

Besides Tinjić, young Sarajevan Dea Herdželaš has also made a significant move, now ranking 700th, which is 29 places better than last week's list. At the same time, for the 17-year-old Herdželaš, this is also the best ranking of her career. Let's add that Herdželaš was also close to the main draw in Medellín. The Sarajevan achieved two victories in the qualifiers but faltered in the final, where Italian Gaia Sensei was better than her with a 2:1 set score.
