FUCZ teams still searching for missing Anto Josić on the Sava River today

(Patria) - After FUCZ water and underwater rescue teams with eight divers and a sonar searched several locations on the Sava River on Friday, today they continued the search at several more locations where the body of the missing person might be. As the water level has receded, the banks of the Sava River are being searched again from the place where the missing Anto Josić lived downstream towards Tolisa, the FUCZ announced. 

Due to winter weather conditions, shorter days, and the impossibility of working in the dark, the FUCZ teams, after suspending yesterday's search, spent the night in the Municipality of Domaljevac-Šamac so that today's search could continue in the early morning hours. The Sava River in this part is very fast and cold, and the search is further complicated by murky water.

According to information gathered from family members and indications that the missing Josić was moving along the bank of the Sava River, it is assumed that he fell into the water and drowned, so the search, which lasted several days both on water and on land, has focused on the Sava River.

Since December 23, 2019, when they joined the search, FUCZ teams have searched a land area of five square kilometers in and around Josić, Tolisa, and Tukove njive towards the border crossing. They also searched part of the terrain four kilometers northwest of the missing person's house, which contains a field that was once his property and which he sometimes visited, and inspected locations with embankments on the Sava River and lateral drainage channels.

Teams on water with boats searched the banks and riverbed of the Sava from Josić towards Orašje and Domaljevac, from Nađevci downstream towards Tolisa.
