TI BiH reports Čavić and Nešić for conflict of interest

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Transparency International in Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH) has filed reports with the conflict of interest commissions against Nenad Nešić and Dragan Čavić, due to incompatibility of the functions of elected representative and director of a public company.

"In the specific cases, Nenad Nešić simultaneously performs the function of acting director of the Public Company 'Roads of Republika Srpska' d.o.o. Banja Luka and a deputy in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, while Dragan Čavić simultaneously performs the functions of acting director of the Public Company 'Elektrokrajina' a.d. Banja Luka and a deputy in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska. The Law on Conflict of Interest in Government Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest in Government Bodies of Republika Srpska, prescribe the incompatibility of the functions of director of a public company and elected representative during the time they perform a public function and six, or three months after the termination of the public function", stated in the TI BiH announcement.

The report against Nešić was submitted to the Commission for Decision on Conflict of Interest of BiH, while the report against Čavić was submitted to the Commission for Determining Conflict of Interest in Government Bodies of the RS.

TI BiH almost a year ago also submitted a report against Dragan Anđelić, due to violation of the Law on Conflict of Interest in Government Institutions of BiH, because after resigning from the position of deputy director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of the Fight against Corruption, he was appointed to the position of acting executive director of the Public Company 'Mine and Thermal Power Plant Gacko', however to date there are no results on the submitted report, given that the members of the Commission for Decision on Conflict of Interest from the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the PSBiH have not yet been appointed.

"TI BiH calls for the Commission to be formed as soon as possible in order to be able to decide as soon as possible on the ongoing conflict of interest cases, and appeals to the RS Commission to act proactively in cases of incompatibility of functions in order to prevent potential abuses", it was stated in the announcement.
