Difficult life in old age: Ahmed and Ramiza live on 32 KM of social assistance

Ahmed and Ramiza Nišić from Zenica survive on 32 KM of social assistance per month and one meal for two people they receive at the Public Kitchen in Zenica, reports the Patria news agency.  

This elderly couple lives in a studio apartment of 11 square meters. Ramiza collects and sells walnuts to help themselves at least a little, and sometimes fruit when people allow her to pick it from their gardens.

The grandmother and grandfather need everything. From food, clothing, household appliances... On top of all the troubles that befall them, grandfather Ahmed, who has a 90 percent hearing impairment, had his hearing aid, which he received from social services, break down.

A fundraising campaign has been launched by the humanitarian association Hedija from Zenica.
