Tešanj: Marking International Rural Women's Day

A joint project of the US and Swedish governments, the Local Development Project (GOLD), in cooperation with three partner municipalities Tešanj, Gračanica and Doboj, and the Association of Businesswomen in BiH ONE is organizing an inter-municipal workshop on the occasion of International Rural Women's Day, reports the Patria News Agency.

The workshop will be held today starting at 11 AM, with an address to the media scheduled for 10:45 AM in the Tešanj Municipality building.

The attendees will be addressed by Suad Huskić, Mayor of Tešanj Municipality, Nusret Helić, Mayor of Gračanica Municipality, Obren Petrović, Mayor of Doboj City, and Besima Borić, honorary member of the ONE Association. 

The aim of the workshop is to raise awareness about the importance of the contribution of women from rural areas to the country's economic development, as well as the challenges they face and the necessary support to overcome these obstacles.  Good practices and successful businesswomen will also be presented at the workshop.

The main goal of the USAID/Sida Local Development Project (GOLD) is strong support for local communities in economic development, attracting investments, and creating new jobs. 

In the past period, the USAID/Sida GOLD project, through its workforce development programs, certification, and other interventions, has created 1678 direct jobs, of which 63% are women and 61% are young people. Interventions were implemented in the furniture production, cable, footwear, SIM and smart card, IT, trade, textile, metal processing, and wood processing industries, according to USAID.
