The burden of the migrant crisis should be distributed throughout BiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In Chapter 28 of the SDA Program Declaration, titled - Migrant Crisis, the SDA calls on all institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina to take adequate measures to protect the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the aim of preventing illegal migrations.

"The burden of the existing influx of migrants should be evenly distributed throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. We call on the European Union to participate more significantly in bearing the costs related to migrants in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We call on all institutions and individuals in Bosnia and Herzegovina to treat migrants humanely, strictly respecting international norms and standards related to this issue. We call on migrants in Bosnia and Herzegovina to respect the laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina," the Declaration states.

One of the chapters also concerns Srebrenica, for which it is stated that the SDA will pay special attention.

"We will pay special attention to the area from which the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica originate and the territory of Žepa as protected zones of the United Nations, in accordance with Security Council resolutions no. 819 and 824. We will continue to advocate for this area to receive a special status that will ensure its development and enable the sustainable return of the displaced population. In accordance with the Resolution of the European Parliament, we will continue to insist on the adoption of a law prohibiting the denial of genocide. We will undertake all necessary activities to ensure that at the next local elections, a mayor is elected who respects the victims of genocide and respects the verdicts of international and domestic courts that have established that genocide was committed," the statement reads in Chapter 24.
