Tegeltija: Disciplinary Prosecutor's Office should investigate irregularities in Memić case

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council Milan Tegeltija sent a response to Muriz Memić, the father of the murdered young man Dženan Memić, who, together with his lawyer Ifet Feraget, held a meeting with members of the HJPC on May 22. The Deputy Chief Disciplinary Prosecutor also attended that meeting.

Tegeltija informs Memić that the HJPC of BiH adopted the following conclusions after that meeting, in relation to the case concerning the death of Dženan Memić.

- All institutions involved in the case pending before the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo should give maximum priority to speeding up the proceedings in this criminal case.
- The HJPC reminds the Council of Ministers of BiH, the entity governments and the Government of Brčko District, and the competent legislative bodies of the conclusions of the seminar held in 2006 in Neum regarding the position of the injured party in criminal proceedings and the need for its improvement, and requests these institutions to undertake activities aimed at amending the criminal legislation in that regard.

The HJPC of BiH, as a specific regulatory body, as explained in the response, does not have the authority to interfere in individual prosecutorial or judicial cases, and therefore not in this case either.

Tegeltija stated that the Chief Disciplinary Prosecutor is solely competent to investigate possible irregularities in the work on this case, based on the information that Memić and lawyer Feraget presented at the meeting, as well as other relevant information.

- The Disciplinary Prosecutor's Office is independent in its work, and the HJPC of BiH expects this body to investigate all allegations you have made and to determine the possible existence of disciplinary offenses and to take further necessary actions within its jurisdiction – Tegeltija concludes in his response.

We remind you that at that meeting, Memić presented all the irregularities in the work of the KS Prosecutor's Office, the prosecutors led by Chief Prosecutor Dalida Burzić, and requested a reaction from this body. Memić believes that the trial for the traffic accident, in which according to the KS Prosecutor's Office Memić died, is a farce that has been going on for two years. He also requested the conclusion of this procedure, and a new investigation that will reveal the true truth about the death of his son.

Memić announced the filing of criminal charges against all those who participated in hiding the truth in the Dženan Memić case.
