Tegeltija: Judiciary in BiH is far from ideal, but also far from being the worst part of society

Milan Tegeltija, President of the HJPC, after listening to the entire debate held at the session of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament regarding the HJPC's Report on Work in 2015, stated that the judiciary in BiH is far from ideal and perfect, writes Patria.

- But it is also far from being the worst part of society. I am pleased to hear about the need for cooperation between the Parliament and the HJPC, and I would be happy to organize a thematic session. When it comes to pressure - the judiciary, as part of society, is subject to public criticism and that is not a problem. I support all criticism. Criticism is not a problem. The problem of pressure arises when representatives of the executive and legislative authorities get involved. Do not allow the system to be undermined because of one or two cases. We do not even have the method of evaluating judges and prosecutors precisely defined in the law.

I agree that the judiciary does not have public trust. Public institutions generally lack trust, people live poorly. Judges and prosecutors come from the people, they are not aliens. The judicial system, no matter how much criticism there is, functions. We are open to dialogue - Tegeltija said.
