Tegeltija expects consensus on 'mini Schengen' to be reached very soon

(Patria) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Zoran Tegeltija spoke today with a delegation of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), led by RCC Secretary General Majlinda Bregu.

The meeting discussed current political and economic topics in BiH and Southeast Europe in light of the development and improvement of regional cooperation.

Chairman Tegeltija emphasized the Council of Ministers' commitment to, in accordance with its competencies, make a maximum contribution to the improvement of regional cooperation, stressing the need to intensify relations with the countries of the region for the purpose of economic progress through facilitating the implementation of the four EU freedoms, launching a strong investment cycle, but also resolving all open issues of common interest, and approaching and acceding to the European Union.

The Chairman of the Council of Ministers welcomed the announcement of plans to include the Western Balkans in the EU Green Agenda, and expressed hope that the announced Economic Plan for the Western Balkan region will be presented soon, which would be of great importance for launching a strong and extensive investment cycle in the context of mitigating the consequences of the crisis caused by the pandemic and the gradual recovery of the economy.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the 'Mini Schengen' initiative, which Chairman Tegeltija supported as a project of economic importance and expressed hope that a consensus on joining this initiative will be reached very soon in BiH. During the meeting, which also discussed other current topics in BiH and the region, Chairman Tegeltija expressed gratitude for the support of the Regional Cooperation Council in the implementation of activities of importance to the citizens of BiH, as well as in strengthening economic and other ties in the Western Balkan region.
