Tegeltija and Kukić on US Sanctions List, Corruption in the Banovići Mine and the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council

The US today also announced sanctions against Milan Tegeltija, former president of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, and Mirsad Kukić, president of the PDA party.

As stated by the State Department, Tegeltija and Kukić were sanctioned for involvement in significant corruption. This decision primarily entails a ban on entry into the US.

"Their actions undermine the rule of law, public trust in democratic institutions and authorities, as well as peace and prosperity for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina," it is stated.

The State Department noted that Kukić was involved in corrupt activities related to the operation of the mine in Banovići.

"In his capacity as director of the mine, Kukić was involved in corrupt acts through which he used his political influence and official power for personal gain. Namely, there is credible information that Kukić appropriated public funds for personal benefit and interfered in decisions on employment and appointments to gain political advantage," the State Department stated.

Regarding Tegeltija, it is stated that as president of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, he was involved in corrupt acts that include using political influence and official power for personal gain.

"Namely, there is credible information that Tegeltija used his position to seek benefits in exchange for interfering in judicial proceedings, as well as manipulating the appointments of judges and other public affairs," it was announced.

In addition to Milan Tegeltija, his wife Tijana Tegeltija also ended up on the list of sanctioned individuals, and she too has been banned from entering the US.
