Tanya Domi: Schmidt, as a German, should be ashamed of what he is doing

(Patria) - Professor at the American Columbia University and former spokesperson for the OSCE Mission in BiH, Tanya L. Domi, was a guest on Hayat's show "7 Plus".

- I gladly and often return to Sarajevo, this is my second time this year, and each time I drink water from Baščaršija to ensure I will come back again - Domi says jokingly.

However, she adds that she is very concerned about all the reports she reads about the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also that she is not surprised that the analyses have reached such conclusions.

- I think that in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a war is being waged by other means, or perhaps a cold peace. The situation heats up occasionally, and at other times it is frozen, as if BiH is stuck in time.

Of course, the leaders of this country are responsible for this situation, but I don't think the international community, including my government - the US, has acted effectively either.

In this regard, they have not preserved the standards foreseen and established by Dayton, and I include the High Representative in this.

I also think it is completely shameful that children in schools are taught that war criminals are great heroes. This manipulates the public, mocks the future of this country, and poisons new generations, shaping them in an extremely perverse way.

The ideals of a country begin with education, citizenship is built through education. In this political state, 30 years after the war, we have a cold peace and a constant attempt to undermine the sovereignty of BiH, both by Dodik and Čović, as well as by nationalists from Zagreb and Belgrade. Both Zagreb and Belgrade are continuously working to constantly undermine BiH - says Domi.

The professor is of the opinion that what Republika Srpska has done in terms of influencing the school curriculum is not only destructive but also a complete failure not only of the leadership and officials of Republika Srpska, but also of the international community - Christian Schmidt, who has the responsibility to implement all civilian aspects of the peace agreement.

- I am old enough to remember that in 1996, when I arrived in BiH, the OHR had an education portfolio, and the High Representative had the obligation to implement the curriculum and restart schools across the country.

It was decided then that France would have this portfolio, but US representatives clearly warned at the time that if segregation in schools occurred, every American dollar would be withdrawn from the country - Domi adds.
